“No litter only literature” was the first thing that caught the attention of the children at the Bokaroo Festival, near India Gate on 25th November’ 2017. Forty children of classes V and VIII attended the fest with accompanying teachers.

A workshop conducted by two Spanish writers focussed on the use of facial expressions. To make it interesting, they had a puppet companion named ‘Holiad’ demonstrating a variety of expressions like sad, happy, scared, surprised, angry etc.

Students were given an assignment where they were asked to draw people with different moods. Imaginations took flight as one drew a sad cricketer, another a scared wizard, etc. We were thrilled to sketch in abandon as it were.

Another interesting activity that the students participated in, was to draw a character of their choice on a piece of paper divided into four parts which would represent three different expressions upon folding.

The next on the list was a story telling workshop, where a writer was narrating stories of India’s real life superheroes, from Mumbai and Manipur. The stories were lessons in being brave and assured us of the fact that anything is possible if we have the determination to accomplish.

At the end, we proceeded to the book stall to pick up our favourite titles from a vast choice. This included bestselling books by famous authors such as JK Rowling, Rick Riordan, Veronica Roth, Chetan Bhagat etc.

Students departed after a quick bite and carried back a baggage of rich experience.
