Every year on September 14, Hindi Diwas is observed to commemorate the adoption and recognition of Hindi as an official Indian language. On September 14, 1949, the Indian Constituent Assembly declared Hindi to be the national language.

On this occasion, the students of The Indian School of class X-A staged a unique assembly to emphasise the importance and value of Hindi. The assembly was conducted by Apeksha Saxena (XA). She started with a catchphrase.

She informed the audience that on September 14, 1949, Hindi was designated as Bharat’s Rajbhasha. Asmi Chawla (XA) recited a poem that emphasised that Hindi holds the key to India’s destiny. The pride of the country, Hindi, reverberates in the core of India.

The audience was informed of some important facts by Kamreen Zehra (XA). She informed that, apart from India, Hindi is also spoken in countries like Fiji, Surinam, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad, etc. According to the World Economic Forum, Hindi is one of the ten most powerful languages in the world. It is taught in 175 universities around the world, of which 45 are located in the United States of America! ‘Namastey’ is the most used word in Hindi, she said. Every year, many words from several languages are included in the Oxford Dictionary, of which the maximum number are from Hindi.

To conclude, Anay Verma read a poem by renowned Hindi poet Shri Som Thakur in which the poet expresses reverence for his native tongue and bows to it, saying,

The Pre schoolers also observed Hindi Diwas. Stories in Hindi from the Panchtantra were read aloud to the children to help them understand the rich heritage and culture of our nation. The tales were:

Pre Primary Merak

Pre Primary Leo

Pre Primary Gemini

Pre Primary Orion

Pre Primary Vega

The little ones learned empathy, honesty, and kindness through these stories, as well as the fundamentals of life. They also crafted book covers for the stories they had heard, using their imagination and creativity.

This campaign greatly succeeded in raising the students’ knowledge of and respect for their native tongue.
