He began recording in his early teens under the name Cheb Khaled. His most famous songs are “Didi”, “Aïcha” and “C’est la vie” as well as “Alech Taadi”.

A slide instrumentalist, vocalist from age 5, composer, guru, author & orator, he is also the creator of the concept Mel harmony in world music. He is the son and disciple of revolutionary “prodigy-maker” Chitravina Narasimhan.

Srinivas was one of the most globally beloved South Indian musicians and is regarded as the Mozart of classical Indian music. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 by Government of India and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2009.
