The Citizenship Programme along with some local political reps and responsible residents of Defence Colony joined hands to launch a campaign against the burning of fire crackers. A variety of posters were printed, a toll free mobile number was registered for those who wanted to extend support and a Facebook page /whatsapp group was set up to post visuals of our campaign. The Citizenship Programme scripted a Nukkad Natak, ‘SAY NO TO CRACKERS’ and started a signature campaign at School among students, teachers, staff and helpers, after sensitizing everyone on the ill effects of burning crackers on our environment and the money saved by not burning crackers.

On 31 October 2015, the following students in the care of Ms. Kajal Soni, presented the Nukkad Natak at the Defence Colony Mela:-
Diksha Wadhwa – Xd
Bhavika Sharma – Xc
Harshini – XI c
Mubashir Ali – XIc
Anushka Anand – XI c
Devnag Dhingra – Xb
Gargi Soni – X c
Shubham Airi was led to participating in the lighting of the lamp, to talk to those gathered about the campaign.
Local leaders like Mr. Abhishek Dutt and Ms Savita Gupta, and all senior members of the Defence Colony RWA and market association were present. The children presented the Natak 4 times at different points in the Mela and received overwhelming applause and appreciation.
The impact of the show was tremenduous and we look forward to repeating the performances at nearby MCD/Kendriya Vidalaya schools in the coming week.
Pictures to follow.
