The teaching of Hindi has various intricacies and challenges. Although it is the official language of India and has given birth to many other languages yet it has failed to attact adequate popularity.

A workshop to help overcome such challenges was held at Don Bosco School, Alaknanda on 10 August 2019. Ms Archana Sharma and Ms Kanika Sikka of the Hindi department attended the same. The workshop expected to cover to novel teaching methodologies and bring changes in pedagogical acumen.

The speakers at the workshop were Mr Y.D. Sharma, Assistant Professor at a Noida college and Ms Sumati Mishra, naturopathy specialist and Hindi language expert. They discussed various methods of simplifying the teaching of the language and making it interesting for children. They suggested that children should be encouraged to make use of the language later in their professional lives too. Many jobs like Intelligence Analyst, Language Data Specialist are emerging in the market which encourage the use of Hindi, they said.

It was also suggested that the principle approach should be to interweave the language with philosophy. Regular meditation sessions with the chant of ‘Aum’ could be a regular practice at schools. The children should be well acquainted with mythology in the form of stories, poems, dramatisation etc. These steps were recommended in order to help better engage students.

The workshop was interactive and educative.
