Why Indian School

schoolWhen asked "Why THE INDIAN SCHOOL?" Our answer is that we say while we prepare our children to meet global challenges we also ensure that they retain in themselves their Indian SANSKARAS. We steer our little Indianites like speed boats into international waters but make sure that they carry their Indian masts with pride and brave every tidal wave to sail ahead. why_image

In today's fast changing world when limitless opportunities are opening up for the young, we have to be extra watchful of the dangers that result from too sharp a change of tradition. The cultural invasion through the electronic media is making it increasingly difficult for parents and educators to cope with the upheavals of adolescence.

The Gyan Mandir Society took it upon itself to address these growing concerns and to establish a school that would effectively balance, for young impressionable minds, the lure of TV screens and disco culture with the appeal of classrooms, laboratories, libraries and playing fields. Thus in 1996 The Indian School came into being equipped with modern infrastructure that would keep pace with the rapid advances in Science and Technology while providing roots in India's rich cultural heritage.

We encourage our children to think independently, to respect themselves and others, to value excellence.

The school is non-denominational in character but spirituality and prayers are an integral part of our morning assembly. Children recite shlokas, the Gurbani, English, Hindi, Urdu, regional and international hymns.

The children are nurtured to be aware of their responsibility to society. Kindergarten children visit orphanages and share their birthday goodies. Older children visit hospitals, old peoples’ homes, school for the blind etc., offering help and learning to understand. The values we adhere to in the school are those enshrined in our Constitution. All our efforts are directed towards upholding, maintaining and preserving these democratic ideals which make diversity our strength. Our school is of the children, for the children and by the children.
