The students of The Indian School participated in an inter-school annual folk festival ‘Saanjhi’ organised by Sardar Patel Vidyalaya on 22 December 2022. The purpose of this annual festival is to encourage students to connect with folk traditions and to reconnect with out heritage. The senior as well as primary students of the host school acted as guides for the visiting participants and teachers.
The event consisted of two categories which were Story Telling and Folk Music Exposition. 13 students from classes 6 to 11 participated in the folk music competition and 8 students from classes 4 and 5 exhibited their story telling skills. The students showcased folk music and stories from Goa and received a rapturous applause from the audience. The participants gave their utmost in the performances making us introspect and reflect. They captivated the audience with their spiritedness.
It was a great learning experience for the students as they were able to understand the complex and the distinctive flavour of our cultural heritage and also develop a sense of pride and belongingness.
