Honours at inter school cultural fest

DPS Gurgaon collaborated with EdA (Esempi di Architettura, Italia), UNESCO, to jointly host Reconnecting with your Culture’ (RWYC)GOONJ, an international cultural fest on Friday, 22 April 2022.

The festival explored the theme, ‘Soham…… I am one with the universe’ through a series of online and offline events which saw 31 prominent schools from across Delhi-NCR participate in music, dance, painting, and best out of waste and photography competitions.

A few of them were Suncity School Sector 37D Gurugram, ITL Public School, Dwarka, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, New Delhi, Delhi Public School Sector 45 Gurgaon, Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram.

In the Harmony music competition, Nandini Bhandari VIII-B, Ishant Bhaskar IX-A, Hibah Asif VIII-B, Ryan Singh IX-A, Aanya Singh VIII-B, Upasana Khatua VIII-C, Oishee Halder VIII-B, Aarohan Chakravarti VIII-C, Pragyan Medhi IX-E and Aryaan Ravish IX-B, presented a folk and rock fusion song on Earth Day, and a folk song from Uttar Pradesh. Mr Ankur Sabharwal, singer, songwriter and theatre actor, judged this captivating event.

In the Nritya Alankar dance competition, Aditi Priyashi VII-A, Aryahi Das VII-A, Saanvi Divya VII-A, Aadya Rai VII-A, Pehal SharmaVII-E, Paavni Handa VII-C and Aanya Kumar VII-A presented a dance drama on mother nature in Odissi style. The judges for the event were Ms Vani Madhav (senior Odissi dance exponent of Guru Debaprasad Gharana) and Ms Kalashree Debasmita Thakur (senior disciple of Padma Bhushan awardee Guru Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan).

In the Folk Fusion online painting competition, Shiksha Dwivedi of VIII-E submitted her artistic work that combined folk art style and modern art. Mr Suresh K. Nair, visual art painting faculty at the Fine Arts Department, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, judged the entries in this category.

In Toy and Play, the best out of waste competition, Azfar Ali and Unnabh of VIII-A made a workable toy out of waste materials. The judge at the event, Mr Arun Kumar H. G., a contemporary artist based in Gurgaon, reviewed the online entries.

In the Shutter Surprise photography competition, Ashmin Malhotra of IX-C entered a picture that included all five elements of the universe. Ms Navya Maheshwari and Mr Vishwas Tilwani, alumni of DPS Gurgaon, judged entries in this online event.

Ms Aditi Mishra, principal of the host school, addressed the gathering of young participants and announced the results of the online events. The Indianites were delighted to receive the High Commendation award in the music and painting categories- Harmony and Folk Fusion. The Indianite participants in Nritya Alankar, Toy and Play and Shutter Surprise competitions brought home Certificates of Appreciation for their praiseworthy entries. Our School also received a letter of Honour for overall excellence in all events.
