Honours at inter school literary competition

 Our School team participated in the Jim Corbett-Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Memorial Annual Young Ideator’s Conclave-2020 conducted by Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital. The two-day event held on 21-22 October witnessed the participation of 20 schools from all over India. Owing to the extraordinary circumstances this year the event was held online on the Zoom platform.

The unique event featured four activities that focused on critical and idea-based thinking. The categories were as follows.

MULTI FORMAT ENGLISH DEBATE- The event consisted of Extempore and Turncoat rounds. Samaara Ravish and Shruti Arora of class XI-D participated in this event. Some of the topics given to the participants in the turncoat round were- “This house believes that social media is ruining democracy”, “This house believes that states should not bail out large corporations with high rates of unemployment caused by the Covid – 19 pandemic”, etc. Some of the topics of the Extempore round were- “Here and now”, “Brief and long”, “Home and away” etc.

Our team reached the semi-finals and Samaara Ravish was adjudged the Best Speaker in the semi-final round.

GENERAL QUIZ- In this event the students had to answer questions based on general awareness via a Google Form. The teams with the highest cumulative score moved to the final round. Arav Dimri (XII) and Maitreye Purandare (X) participated in this category.

CREATIVE WRITING- In this event the participants were given a word/phrase and were asked to write a short story of 10 lines upon it. Twisha Kacker of XII-C took part in the event and received the topic ‘Purgatory’. The time given for preparation was 15 minutes. Her efforts were appreciated by the judges she was awarded the Joint Third Prize.

ART INSTALLATION- In this event the participants were required to sketch a blueprint of an improvised installation. Anushree Dutta from class XII-D took part in this event.

The conclave posed a variety of challenges to the talented young minds and drove them to ideate. The students were very happy to be a part of such a churning.
