Hands'-On session on building an Electric Motor at the National Science Centre for classes 9 and 10

On 7 May 2025, forty students from classes 9 and 10 of The Indian School attended a "Hands-On Session on Electric Motor Making" at the Innovation Space, at the National Science Centre.

The visit began with an exploration of the exhibits at the Centre, where students observed various scientific models and displays illustrating key concepts across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In the “Innovation Space”, the education officer presented a series of videos highlighting the significance and applications of electricity. The session culminated with a live explanation of the construction and working of a simple electric motor. The students were then guided to the laboratory, where each one was provided with the necessary materials to create an electric motor independantly. With support from the staff present, every student successfully built a functioning model that operated upon voltage supply.

The experience offered an invaluable opportunity for experiential learning, allowing students to reinforce theoretical concepts through hands'-on application, a true embodiment of the principle of 'learning by doing'.
