Screening of Project Hail Mary"- 'edutainment' for class 12

On 21 April 2026, 111 class XII students participated in an enriching educational excursion to PVR INOX Nehru Place for a special screening of the science-fiction film "Project Hail Mary", directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The students were accompanied by Vice Principal Dr Anu Singh (XII), Physics teachers Ms Archana Raichandani (XII), and Ms Meenakshi (XII).

The film, grounded in real scientific ideas, provided an excellent bridge between classroom theory and imaginative exploration. It introduced the students to advanced topics such as astrophysics, radiation, orbital mechanics, spectroscopy, relativity, and space travel, helping them appreciate how theoretical knowledge can be applied to real scientific challenges. The experience encouraged scientific thinking through experimentation, hypothesis testing, and data analysis, thereby strengthening logical reasoning and research skills. It also promoted interdisciplinary learning by connecting physics with chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, and English, aligning with the NEP 2020 vision of multidisciplinary education. Beyond academics, the activity fostered 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication, and presentation through follow-up discussions, research tasks, and reviews.

The film’s themes of global cooperation, resilience, and the use of science to solve planetary challenges further nurtured values of innovation and global citizenship.

The outing reflected the School’s commitment to the philosophy of "edutainment", where meaningful learning is blended with engaging real-world experiences. Overall, the experience transformed physics' learning from rote memorisation into curiosity-driven exploration, making science more engaging and career-inspiring for students.
