Pratah Stuti for grandparents on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti

Like the roots of a tree, grandparents hold families together. Their role in the family is integral and irreplaceable.

Pratah Stuti is held annually at The Indian School on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as a tribute to grandparents and the invaluable role they play in shaping young lives.

Given the Covid protocol this year, Pratah Stuti was conducted online on Saturday, 2 October 2021, at 9 am. Almost 300 grandparents gathered virtually to celebrate the occasion.

The welcome speech by Savitri, a class 1 student, preceded an address by Principal, Ms Tania Joshi.

The online celebrations showcased a series of mesmerising solo and group performances by the young and talented Indianites as a mark of respect for their grandparents. Dhwani of class 2 anchored the virtual ceremony most ably.

A video of emotional messages for grandparents by the Pre-schoolers had several eyes moist. Following this, Sadhya of class 1 elucidated the importance and relevance of grandparents in the family and society. Next, class 1 students presented a danced to the hymn- Raghupati Raghav. Sreshta of class 8 sang the bhajan, Hey Ram.

A video by the Pre-primary described the beautiful bond that children share with their grandparents and vice versa. Ananya and Shreesh of class 3 presented a PPT on the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi and spoke on his contribution to the freedom struggle.

Prajesh presented a Hindi poem on Gandhiji and his idea of Swachha Bharat.

Samarth Sovani of class 4 melodiously presented the bhajan, Vaishnav Jan, while Naina of class 2 shared her experiences and feelings for grandparents. Kushal Agarwal of class 1 rendered the bhajan Raghupati Raghav, while Sanjeev sir sang Sabarmati ke Sant in his mellifluous voice.

The celebrations ended with a thank you note by Mrs Joshi and a special mention of Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

Pratah Stuti is a special event on the school calendar and has its origins in our School ethos of keeping our tradition, culture and values alive.

The performances were most appreciated and applauded by all the attendees.
