To seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated by the students of Pre Primary on 31 August 2022 in the school auditorium. The celebration started on an auspicious note by the lighting of a diya in front of a handcrafted idol of Ganesha.

The young students were told about why we celebrate the occasion and how we can make the celebration eco friendly. They were also told the tale of young Lord Ganesha and how He acquired his elephant head.

The melodious chanting of the timeless Sanskrit shloka added to the solemnity of the assembly.

( As stranslated,

‘O Lord (Ganesha), who has a huge body, curved elephant trunk and whose brilliance is equal to billions of suns, may He always remove all obstacles from my endeavours.’

The young Indianites took turns to speak a few lines about the festival and its significance. They also described how it is celebrated in different parts of India.

The shlokas and the Ganpati vandana were chanted by the children in perfect harmony.

A bedecked clay Ganesha was carried in a procession through the School corridors by a group of traditionally attired and excited Pre primary children with loud cheers of “Ganpati Bappa Morya!”. The resplendent parade of the ‘devotees’ carrying aloft their eco-friendly Ganesha drew admiring looks as it made its way.
