Freedom in the mind,

Faith in the words …

Pride in our souls…

The Pre-Primary students at The Indian School celebrated our motherland’s 74th Independence Day on 14 August, 2020 with a virtual assembly.

The two-day celebrations commenced with a patriotic rendering of the song ‘I salute my flag’ on 13 August 2020. The children were told about the three colours on the national flag and the Ashoka Chakra.

On 14 August, the class teachers narrated a story named ‘I am Independent’ which  described the struggle for independence. The teachers explained the meaning of independence and how the little ones can learn to be independent by imbibing the good habit of doing their own chores and not be dependent on their grown-ups. They must learn to brush their own teeth, wear their clothes, do their homework and eat without help.

The students learnt to craft the tricolour with coin printing. The students were taught  to place coins under a white sheet and then colour the raised part  with crayons to get the coin imprints on the sheet.

The celebration continued  with the children being introduced to the national symbols like the peacock, the lotus, the Banyan tree etc. A quiz named Incredible India delighted the little ones as they answered questions with alacrity.

It was an animated session embedded with activities for learning in fun
