“Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”.
Each year, The Indian School appoints a Student Council to instil leadership qualities in students and experience the functioning of an administrative body. The ceremony is not just about providing titles but also about handing over responsibilities to students. The members take charge of School’s affairs and pledge to take it to new heights with their leadership, decision-making skills, communication and teamwork.
The Investiture Ceremony for 2022-23 was held on 28 May 2022 in the Foundation Hall at The Indian School. The parents of the newly elected student body and representatives of the PTA attended the solemn event. The pandemic restrictions and protocols were strictly adhered to during the entire ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with a beautiful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana, followed by a motivational song by the senior school choir.
Principal, Ms Tania Joshi, congratulated the newly appointed council members and addressed the gathering. She entrusted them to set priorities in hours of need and be team players. She reminded them that they were the torch bearers of the School’s values and urged them to take responsibility with commitment and integrity. She also inspired them to be dutiful and responsible in carrying out their assigned roles.
The procession of the student council was a spectacular event which set the mood for the occasion. Tanisha Mendiratta of class XA announced the names of the council members by turn. Looking smart in uniform, each member took position on stage as the master of ceremonies highlighted his or her qualities and achievements.
Ms Joshi, and Vice-Principal, Dr Anu Singh, pinned the appointment badge and placed the sash on each member of the Senior Student Council.
Head Girl, Meenakshi Manoj, led the oath-taking ceremony. The council members pledged to embody and uphold the ideals of School and promised to be worthy leaders for their peers to emulate. The momentous occasion symbolised the beginning of a new phase in their lives as student leaders of The Indian School.
The programme concluded with the elected student body singing the School Song.
