Gandhi Jayanti is observed by the entire nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Students of Pre School Agena too celebrated Bapu’s 150th birth anniversary on 1 October, 2019 at School with zeal, enthusiasm and patriotic feeling.

The day began with the enthusiastic children arriving, dressed in kurta pyjamas and scarcely able to contain their excitement. Soon the much anticipated opportunity arrived when everyone had gathered in the assembly area for the special assembly.

The programme started with a brief introduction of Gandhiji by our little Indianites, Hitakshi Thakur, Tanishka Chadha, Hitan Saini, Ransh Ranjan and Aarav Pratihari. They took turns to explain how Bapu’s role in attaining freedom for India was pivotal. This was followed with the class choir singing Bapu’s favourite devotional song ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’. It had been an earnest endeavour on the part of the teachers to bring those children to the forefront, who are otherwise reserved or shy in the classroom.

A fusion of patriotic songs were sung by the other choir group of the class. The assembly ended with the children presenting a dance to the popular song ‘Bande me tha Dum, Vande Mataram’, glorifying Bapu and his role.
