Singapore International School, Mumbai conducted the 11th edition of its annual event Confluence - SIS Literary Convergence on 21 November 2020. The event was conducted online on the Zoom platform and witnessed the articipation of 40 eminent schools of the country. The competition was open to students of classes VIII-XII.
It featured three activities that focused on critical and idea-based thinking. The activities were:
1. General Quiz –A team of two students was allowed to participate in the event. Piyush Rangra of XI-D and Sarvagya Puri of XI-A participated in the event. There was an elimination round of 25 questions and the top 5 teams made it to the final. The event followed a general quiz format with audio and visual rounds.
2. Multi-Format English Debates- The event was divided into there rounds namely- Extempore, Turncoat and Bridge. The participants were led to separate virtual rooms for the different events. Manna Kakkar (IX), Gunveer Singh Dhir (XI) and Shruti Arora (XI) took part in the event.
3. Speech Writing- A team of two students participated in this event. The participants were given a topic and 15 minutes to write their speeches. Shruti Arora of XI-D and Jiya Jawa of XI-E represented our School in the event. Shruti Arora won the Best Speech Writing prize at the event.
The students got significant opportunities for collaborating on the digital floor and learning with their peers from other schools, who were both the audience and the interlocutors. It was a stimulating experience and the students enjoyed being a part of it.
