Sharing our quest for Excellence in Learning

In an attempt to initiate research and innovation and to provide inspiration and motivation in diverse spheres of learning, The Indian School is constantly exploring new initiatives which involve not merely our but also other schools of Delhi and NCR.

MALHAAR

The 1st of our inter-school events for each session, Malhaar which started out as a Music and Dance Competition has evolved into a veritable celebration of the fine arts and technology with the inclusion of two new disciplines – theatre and art. As always the theme for the year is woven into the theme of each event.

MALHAAR GOES NORTH-EAST

Each year the school selects a new theme for the contest – In the previous years we have focussed on European Music and folk dance, the North East of India for which we invited Padma Shri Raj Kumar Singhajit Singh & Smt. Charu Sija Mathur to give a lecture demonstration on Manipuri dance. In the earlier years, we concentrated on the Mughal era and the students danced the Kathak with Padma Shri Shovana Narayan as our Chief Guest. 550 students from schools across Delhi thronged our school for Dilli Meri Jaan!

PADMA VIBHUSHAN SONAL MANSINGH AND PADMA SHREE SHOVANA NARAYANA GIVING AWARDS TO STUDENTS

Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh has also graced the event with her presence in the past. She presided over a presentation of dance from countries along The Silk Route.

Malhaar has become a much awaited event on the Delhi school circuit.

DR. AMIDAS GORADIA DEBATE

The Dr. Amidas Goradia Debate is held in August in memory of the Chairman’s ancestor Dr. Amidas Goradia, the first Indian allopathic doctor to graduate with a gold medal from Bombay University in 1863. The Debate provides a great platform for students to learn the cut and thrust of debate, to pause and parry before driving home an argument.Because of the tremendous enthusiasm it generated, we also introduced a Hindi debate for classes IV and V.

The topics are of national/international interest and the debate is presided over by a distinguished panel of judges.
