NDTV and our School collaborate to discuss Depression on the occasion of World Health Day

World Health Day, celebrated on 7 April every year to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organisation, offers us a unique opportunity to mobilise action around a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. The theme of our 2017 World Health Day campaign is depression.

Depression affects people of all ages, from all walks of life and in all countries. It causes mental anguish and impacts the ability of people to carry out even the simplest everyday tasks. Sometimes the infliction has devastating consequences for relationships with family and friends and the ability to earn a living.

Depression can be prevented and treated. For this purpose India Matters, a weekly documentary series aired on NDTV collaborated with The Indian School and mental health experts to spread awareness on depression. A better understanding of what depression is, and how it can be prevented and treated, can go a long way to alleviate the condition, stigma associated with it and will draw more people to seek help.
