Pandit Jasraj was born in Village Pili Mandori in erstwhile Hisar district of Haryana (now Fatehabad district) in a middle-class family to Motiram, a Hindustani classical singer, on 28 January 1930. Amongst many awards to his credit Pandit Jasraj was awarded with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award.
