Hello dear Parents!
As we prepare to plunge into a fresh academic year it feels the months have flown. Much has been attempted and achieved by the children in these past months and it is my pleasure and pride to share the same with you. Awards at inter school competitions Our School was awarded the First position for English Debate at theinter school literary conclave held at Singapore International School, Mumbai, on 6-7 September 2018. Team-Avantika Chodha, Aatif Hussain and Shrey Gogia. At aninter school creativity conclave held at BK Birla Public School, Kalyanon 7 September 2018, our School took the First position for English Debate ( Avantika Choda, Aatif Hussain and Utkarsh Pandey) and Third position for Art Installation ( Sehaj Bedi and Prabhsimran Kaur). St. Michaels Confluence 2018-aninter school event hosted by St. Michaels School, Siliguri, on 14 and 15 September 2018 - Our School debate team comprising Avantika Chodha- class 12 D, Jahnobi Roy- class 11D and Mehar Saxena-class 11 C, was named First Runner Up in the Multi format English debate. Avantika was also awarded for Best Block and Tackle. Mehar Saxena received Honourable Mention for her performance in the Model UNESCO Dialogue Forum. Mannsi- class 7 and Gayatri- class 8 were awarded the 2nd and 3rd positions for Hindi elocution and Hindi recitation respectively, in theSwachhata Pakhwada held at the National Science Centreon 29 September 2018. Avantika Chodha, class 12D was named Second Best Speaker in aninter school debate amongst schools of Delhi- NCR, organised by the St. Stephens College Debating Societyon 12 October 2018. At theMTNL Inter School Competitionheld between 24 and 27 October, our teams lifted the following prizes: First Prize for Instrumental Fushion, First Prize for Choreography, Second Prize for Skit and Second Prize for Group Singing. At theAeromodelling Competitionorganised by Indias Hobby Shack on 1 December 2018 at the Tyagraj Stadium, Sushant Kumar Aggarwal was awarded the First position in the junior category, Mukul Verma took the Third position in the junior category and Dhruv Sharma was awarded the First position for multicopter flying. At theInternational Adolescent Summitheld 4-6 Dec18, our team ( Anshika Sharma 11 E, Jahnnobi Roy 11 D, Mehul Tandon 11 B, Saksham Batra 11 C, Epari Pratyaksh 11 E and N Risha 11 E) was adjudged Outstanding in Quiz and Exhibition and received the Special Jurys prize for Jingle Making. Jahnnobi Roy was named Exemplary in the singing competition. AtVasantotsav18-19, held on 8 December 2018, at Ahlcon International School- In the junior folk song category (class III V) our group comprising Yashovardhan Labh (III), Snigdha Naug (III), Oishee Haldar(IV), Upasana Khatua (IV), Navya Malhotra (V), Pragyaan Medhi(V), Nikhil Raja Kumar (IV), Ukta Mandal (IV), Anay Verma (V),Dyutikana Sen Gupta (V),Daksh Mohan (V) and Sonam Lhadon (V) won the first position for their rendition of a Bihari song. In the senior category, the students took the second position- team included Pratham Goel (VI), Hemang Gupta (VII), Vatsal Gupta (VII), Kumar Ritovash (VII) both on vocal and harmonium, Chandraboti Sengupta (VIII), Dishi Anand (IX), Saarthak Malhotra (IX), Surveen Kaur (IX). In the senior category group folk dance, the students won the second position in this category. The team comprised Shreya Verma (VI), Dhruv Pandey (VII), Gaurika Agarwal (VII), Parth Minocha (VII), Pavani Agarwal (VII), Pooja Jha (VII), Aadya Sharma (VIII), Aditya Matta (VIII), Ananya Sundresan (VIII), Gunika Jolly (VIII), Saransh Jha (VIII) and Shaumita Dasgupta (VIII). AtMonument Speak 2019 held by INTACHat the India Islamic Centre on 30 January 2019, 7 students of classes VI IX were awarded the first prize for the inter school group song competition. The participants were Pratham Goel (VI-B), Anush Malik (VI-D), Kumar Ritovash (VII-D), Anish Puri (VIII-B), Jayant Kumar (VIII-D), Kavya Shrotriya (VIII-E) and Sam Singh Maini (IX-B). On 2 February 2019, Sasmit Deysarkar (VIII-B), Manya Narang (VIII-A) and Deeposri (VIII-A) won the first, second and third prize respectively at aninter school literature event called Sahityotsav: Festival of Letters held at the Lalit Kala Akademi. Each of them received a cash prize. Delhi State Scrabble Championship 18 students of class 8 participated in the 13th Delhi State Scrabble Championship. Competing with about 50 candidates of the same age group, Maitreyi Purandare won all five of her rounds and secured 2nd position in the championship. District Level Cultural Competitions 2018-19 Names of the first prize winners-Ananya Sundresan (VIII)- English extempore,Deeposri Choudhury (VIII) and Krishna Ayyagari (X)- Instrumental music,Harhit Pant (XI)- Hindi poetry recitation,Mehul Tandon (XI)- English slogan writing,Anas Arif (XII)- Mono acting   Sports- State and National level awards *At theZonal Athletic Meetheld at the Thyagaraj Stadium on 15-16 October 2018, Meghna Naavariya (XII-D) took the silver and bronze medals for Javelin Throw and the Triple Jump respectively (senior category). Akriti Kumar (XI-C) secured the the third position in the Javelin Throw (junior category). Aman Chattlani (XI-C) stood 4th in both 400 & 800 m. *At the The15th Junior National Jump Rope Skipping Competitionheld at Pushkar, Rajasthan, from 1 to 3 October 2018, Devanshi Agarwal of class VIII C won the gold medal in the endurance event while Harleen Kaur of class 8 A picked up two silvers in the 30-second speed and 3-minute endurance events. *At theCBSE cluster XX Badminton Tournament, held at Bosco Public School, Paschim Vihar from 8-10 October 2018, our senior girls team comprising Riya Khatri (XII E) and Aeshita Sharma (XII D) secured the 1st place. *At theC.B.S.E. Central Zone Roller Skating Championship2018 held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Bawana from 11 to 13 October 2018, Sam Singh Maini, IX-B won the Silver medal in the 1000 m and the Bronze in the 300 m (Under 16 category). Shiva Siroli, V-E won 2 Silver medals in the 500 meters and 1000 meters (Under 12). *At theJet Toy and Skimmer Regional Olympicson 24 October 2018, our Schools jet toy team comprising Ram Dhingra, Geetika Gupta, Dheevam Singh and Arshia Sharma of class VI won the Best Sportsmanship award and our skimmer team comprising Astha Chaudhri, Piyush Tomar, Mehak and Khyati Sachdeva of class V won the Best Accuracy award and the First Runners Up Trophy. *At theZonal Primary Athletic Meetheld at Thyagraj Stadium on 20 November 2018, The Indian School Girls (U-12) team, Bhumika Puri-VA, Asmi Chawla- VC, Mehak VB and Nandini Bhandari-IVB secured the third position; Vishal Mondal (IC) won a Gold in the Pack-your-bag race, Veer (I D) took a Bronze in the Obstacle race, Aditya Nalwa (III) and Devansh Garg (III) took the silver in the Three-legged race. *At the 56th National Roller Skating Championship 2018-19held at Visakhapatnam from 18 to 23 December 2018, Shiva Silori of class V E took 2 Silver medals in the 3000m and 5000m (8 to 12 years category). *At theVIII WG CDR Mathew Inter-school Junior Athletic Meet 2018-19organised by St. Marys School at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 19 December 2018, Ritwik Bakshi, class IVB took the Gold for the 50m Flat Race; Harshvardhan Singh, class IVB took the Gold for Long-Jump, Manthan Bobal, class VA took the Bronze for the 70m Hurdle Race and Yaashica Saini, IIIC took the Bronze for the 50m Flat Race. The Boys team of class III for the 4*50 m Relay comprising Devansh Garg (IIIE), Aditya Nalwa (IIIA), Akshat Anand (IIIA) and Pratham Chitkara (IIID) took the Bronze and the Boys team of class IV comprising Ritwik Bakshi (IVB), Harshvardhan Singh (IVB), Rishietdeep Singh (IVD) and Harshit Gangadhar (IVE) took the Gold for the 4*50m Relay. *At theDDA Badminton Tournamentheld on 29 and 30 Dec18, Kartikeya Shrotriya, 6 E took the Gold in the Singles and the Silver in the doubles. *At theRS Junior Modern School inter-school athletic meetheld on 2 February 2019, Piyush Tomar (V B) secured the third position for shot put throw, Harshvardhan Singh (IV B) was named third for Long Jump, Nandini Bhandari (IV C) secured the third position for the 200 mt. Flat Race, Ritwik Bakshi (IV B) took the bronze in the 80 Mt. Flat Race and the girls' team comprising Harnoor Kaur(IV B), Hibah Asif (IV D), Ananya Basu (IV A) and Nandini Bhandari (IV C) took the bronze for the 4*100 Mt. Relay. *At the7th Delhi State Kurash Championshipheld at the Thyagaraj Stadium on 8 and 9 February 2019, Priyanshi Sharma of class 4C was awarded the silver medal in the 35 kg category. *At the64th National School Gamesheld at Aurangabad from 30 Dec,18 to 2 Jan 2019, Riya Khatri, XII E secured the third position in the Badminton-U-19 category.   Annual Exhibition 2018 The Annual Exhibition was held on 13 October 2018. As per tradition, students of classes VI to XII set up spectacular exhibits to capture the essence and significance of science, mathematics, languages and the social sciences in our daily lives. The exhibition provided an ideal forum to the students to showcase their summer vacation projects. This year, the exhibits were a mix of two key themes States along the east coast of India and Science 247. The 6th edition of theannual science magazine- Science Musings by an Indianitewas also released on the occasion.   Library Week Library Week was observed at School from 22 to 26 October 2018. The plethora of activities organised during the week offered great opportunities to students to bring out their latent talents. These included visits to the National Book Trust Library and the National Science Library, a workshop on Doodling conducted by Mr. Ajit Narayan, eminent illustrator and an interactive storytelling workshop by eminent author Ms. Anupa Lal.  

Pre Primary Annual Day 2018

On 15 December, 2018 our youngest Indianites presented glimpses of the states of Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal- in song, dance, drama and costume at their Annual Day 2018, aptly named, The Enchanting East: Chronicles of The States of the Eastern Coast of India, the School theme of the year. The odyssey wove together a dramatised connection of the culture and history of the states, embarking from Odisha encompassing the Dravidian architecture of Tamil Nadu and mesmerizing landscapes and heritage of Andhra and Bengal.   Graduation Ceremony 2018-19 This year the ceremony for the outgoing batch of 2018-19 was held on 21 December 2018 at 4:30 pm in the auditorium and was attended by the students of class XII as well as their parents and all their teachers. Each student received a citation on the occasion.   Class 12 Farewell Ceremony 2018-19 On 24 December 2018, students of classes 11 and 12 along with their teachers, gathered in the School auditorium to bid each other farewell. The eventful Farewell Ceremony saw brilliantly artisticand lively music, dance and drama performancesspecially composed and performedby the students of class 11.   Academic interactions with Schoolchairman Former member oftheRajya Sabha, author and thinker,School chairman,Mr. Prafull Goradia is an authority on several contemporary issues. His interactions with the students have always endeavoured to bring to them some interesting,hithertounknownaspectsand new perspectivesonrelevant issues. On 4 September 2018, the students of classes X-XII had an interesting and informative interaction with our School Chairman, Mr. Prafull Goradia, onArticle 35 A and the National Register of Citizens. Sir provided an insight into the largest princely State of Jammu & Kashmir. On 4 October 2018, the students of classes VIII and IX were privileged to interact with Mr.Goradia, on theKashmirissue. The students of classes IV and V were delighted to attend an insightful and interactive session with Sir on the topicThe Coming of the Britishin the School auditorium on Tuesday, 16 October 2018. On Thursday, 27 December 2018, students of classes VIII and IX were accorded another opportunity to interact with Sir on the topicReservation Policy in India. On Wednesday, 29 January 2019 the students of classes VII and VIII had an interactive session with Mr. Goradia onIndias Tea industry.Sir shared with the students the intriguing story of the origins of tea.   Eco Park activities The clean air, the chirping birds and the rustling fauna at the School eco park make it an ecological experience for our children. Concepts of science take a definite shape as students take a hands on feel on life-sized interactive science models erected in the park. Classes 3-8 engaged with ecology so to say, across the duration of the term, the younger ones partucularly enjoying the free play and the farm animals whilst the older ones undertook structured visits and everyone equally loved picking fresh produce to carry home!   Winter excursions Students of classes Primary welcomed the new year year atJim Corbett Parkwhilst middle school visited theRanthambore National Parkat Sawai Madhopur.   CBSE Capacity Building The one-day CBSE Capacity Building Programme was held at our School on 15 November 2018 and dwelled upon Remodelled Structure of Assessment. The same was attended by 46 educators from schools across Delhi-NCR. The participants included 10 teachers of our School.   International Adolescent Summit Life skills, Values, Gender and School Well-being were the focus of a countrywide schools summit on 4, 5 and 6 December 2018 where Honourable former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee was chief guest. Mr. Vineet Joshi ( Director General of the National Testing Agency and former Chairman-CBSE) was also present. 6 students of our School-Anshika Sharma (XI-E), Jahnnobi Roy (XI-D), Mehul Tandon (XI-B), Saksham Batra (XI-C), Epari Pratyaksh (XI-E) and N Risha (IX-E) participated in the summit which was attended by schools from all over the country who are members of SmartGram ( initiated by the former President himself.   Skype classrooms A class conducted as an interface with peers across the world is both a novel and an invaluable leading tool. At our School, students are being oriented to interact so, from an early age. Distant and unfamiliar cultures, accents, languages, even time zones and perspectives lends itself to stretching the young imaginations, as it were. In the recent past, students of class II connected and shared learning experiences with their peers at theAban School in Russiaon 25 February 2019. The children bonded over the universally loved activities of reading, drawing and playing. They were excited to see and appreciate the diverse artwork thus. The young Russian students demonstrated counting from 1-10 with the help of a Russian doll! Another skype class was held with students ofThe Sanskaar Valley School, Bhopal, on 4 September 2018. This interaction was used to teach an EVS chapter in the syllabus! The session started with an ice breaker exchange about the heritage sites of Delhi and Bhopal. The children then jointly discussed Safety Rules at home and school. Our children took particular delight in relating their visit to the local Traffic Training Park. Similarly class 1A engaged in a skype classroom with the students of theHam Nghi Primary School in Dong Ha City, Vietnamon 4 October 2018. Chiefly the session was animated exchange about the cultures of both nationalities, national symbols, the time difference etc.   Citizenship Programme activities The Citizenship Programme was abuzz with activity. Aworkshop on traffic rules and road safety was conducted by the Delhi Policefor the students of classes VIII and IXon 11 October 2018. This was a part of an ongoing Road Safety Campaign. On 28 November 2018, Gurmehr Gulati, Harshit Sethi, Roshan Sahalwani (9D) and Anushka Saxena (9E) accompanied by Citizenship Coordinator, Ms. Sangeeta Aswani visitedPalnato conduct an orientation for awareness amongst children there on the importance of oral hygiene. Our students explained to them the why and how of brushing ones teeth. 3 students of class 11- Vanshita Sethi (11C), Divij Bhargava (11B) and Raunak Maini (11A) visited Palna on Tuesday, 18 December 2018. The children at Palna were prompted to draw a picture depicting their vision of India in 10 years. This was part of the project- Dream on India taken up by our School. On 2 February 2019, students of classes VIII to X got an opportunity to interact with Indias first lady bodyguard who shared her journey with the students. She explained how she broke stereotypes and foughtgender inequalityin a male dominated profession.
  It has thus been an exhaustive few months, packed with energy and creativity. Entirely in line with our mission to seek to nurture young personalities that think independently, value excellence and remain deeply rooted in a strong value system. Do, therefore, dear parents, encourage your children to take the benefit of the diverse activities offered at School. Discovering ones innate talents is the best step to becoming truly well rounded young adults.
