Three Language Formula for Class IX
Dear Parents,
This is to inform you that as per CBSE Circular No. Acad-33/2026 dated 15.05.2026 (attached herewith), the Board has aligned its Scheme of Studies with the NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.
With effect from 1st July 2026, the study of three languages will be compulsory for all Class IX students.
Language Structure:
- At least two of the three languages must be native Indian languages.
- In our school, English will continue as R1. Hindi will be R2.
- Sanskrit will be introduced as R3 for all Class IX students at a basic level, using Class VI level textbooks initially as prescribed by CBSE.
Assessment of R3 (Sanskrit):
- There will be no Board Examination for R3 in Class X next year for these students.
- Assessment will be entirely school-based and internal. However, the performance in R3 will be reflected in the CBSE Class X certificate.
Henceforth the school will not offer French as the third language from this session.
- Sanskrit will be the common R3 for all Class IX students to ensure compliance and smooth implementation.
- These changes will be implemented for Class IX from 1st July 2026.
- The focus is on joyful, meaningful language learning without additional examination pressure.
We request your support in helping the children embrace Sanskrit and understand the long-term benefits of multilingual proficiency and cultural rootedness as envisaged by NEP 2020.
