20th Dr Amidas Goradia Inter school Debate in Hindi

The Indian School hosted the 20th edition of the Dr Amidas Goradia Inter-School  Debate in Hindi on 28 August 2024.

This prestigious event witnessed the participation of 14 prominent schools from across Delhi. The young debaters, drawn from classes IV and V, displayed remarkable poise and clarity of thought, demonstrating skills well beyond their years.

The distinguished gathering included members of the School Managing Committee, Vice Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Nayana Goradia, Principal Ms Tania Joshi, Vice Principal Dr Anu Singh, Headmistress Ms Vandana Tiwari, and the Vice-President of the PTA, Ms Tina Kapoor. Teachers from the participating schools were also in attendance.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana by the School choir. In her welcome address, Ms Tania Joshi extended a warm greeting to the participating schools and expressed her appreciation for their contributions to the growing prominence of the debate over the years.

Chief Guest, Mr Sumit Awasthi, renowned journalist from NDTV, captivated the students with his insights on public speaking and inspired them by sharing his own experiences.

The panel of judges included Dr Megha, professor at Christ University, and Dr Prempal, assistant spokesperson at Amity University. 

Piyush Kumar of V-B and Sanchay Kumar of V-E represented our School and eloquently presented their views on the topic “School mein ab nahin hote hum bore, nritya-sangeet khel kood sab par hai zor.”

The competition was marked by intense and passionate arguments as other keen

debaters passionately articulated their views on topics like "Grihkarya se ab kya darna, AI se sab kuch karna," "Kaash! Mere paas bhi ek robot mitr hota," "Janwaron ko chidiyaghar mein rakhna uchit hai," and "School mein ab nahin hote hain hum bore, nritya-sangeet khel kood sab par hai zor."

The day concluded with the announcement of the results by the Principal. In the Best Speaker category, the First Position was awarded to Aanya Jain of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, followed by Tanishka Gupta of R.S. Junior Modern School in Second Place, and Prisha Gupta of Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls in the Third Place.

Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls was declared Runner-Up, while R.S. Junior Modern School emerged as the Winner of the competition, taking home the Rolling Trophy. All participants were honoured with certificates for their successful participation.
