3rd Korea-India Friendship Quiz Finals

To promote the sharing of culture among the citizens of the world, The Republic of Korea and India jointly conducted the Korea-India Friendship Quiz Competition at the NCUI Auditorium in Delhi. All participant schools were invited to watch the remarkable quiz.

The Final round comprised of a final and a super final round. All the 24 qualifiers of Levels 2A and 2B were divided into 2 groups and of these 24 qualifiers, 8 were selected - 4 from each group - for the Super Final round through 3 rounds of visual questions, comprising of 5 questions each.

While arrangements for the Super Final round were being made, students were introduced to the Namsadang Nori, the Korean way of storytelling, where folktales are told told using instrumental music, narration and expressions. The narrators appeared in vibrant dresses and then started off with a perfect combination of music and narration.

After the Namsadang Nori, The Super Final round of the quiz was conducted in the presence of His Excellency, The Ambassador of Korea for India, Mr. Shin Bong-kil and the Director of the Korean Culture Centre, Mr. Kim Kum-pyoung. The 8 finalists went through a series of 30 visual questions divided into 6 rounds to compete for the first position.

While the results were being prepared, a Taekwondo performance was presented by the black-belt players of the Korean Culture Centre. Taekwondo is the name of the Korean martial art for self-defence. The players presented several kicks, punches, and blocks in innovative ways which took our breaths away! The art of blocking some of the most forceful punches and breaking blocks without a wound or without causing pain fascinated everyone.

Then, the results were announced. The top 4 winners won a free trip to South Korea, the one in 5th position was given a cash prize of Rs. 10,000; and the rest of the qualifiers were given a cash prize Rs. 2000.

To maintain the interest of the students who were the audience, an audience quiz was also conducted, where some questions were posed by the quizmaster and were answered enthusiastically by the audience. Of those, who answered correctly; a lucky draw was conducted with grand prizes.
