A Silver for our basketball team at 3rd Students' Olympic International Games held near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 30 Jun to 3 July'17. Congrats!

The Indian School Under-19 basketball team participated in the 3rd Students' Olympic International Games at Johor Bahru near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and won the SILVER. This event was held from 30th June to 3rd July, 2017. The tournament comprised participation of teams from various countries, such as South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Sparsh Khandelwal, as skipper, with 4 others representing our School played a gripping final against the Malaysian team but missed winning with a score of 51-36.

The Students' Olympic International Games is an international tournament that was initiated in 2015 in which school teams from different countries compete in different sports such as basketball, karate, kabbadi, table tennis and badminton.

In the league matches, the Indian team won the match against Afghanistan 48-41, got a walk- over against Sri Lanka, and won the semi-final against Pakistan-42-31. The final was played against the Malaysian team. The players of the team that made it to the finals were students from The Indian School, which included Sparsh Khandelwal, Yash Maini, Akshat Gupta, Chaitanya Chopra and Nipun Budhiraja. The Indian team left for Chennai on 28th June, and then flew to Kuala Lumpur on 29th June. The matches started in Johor Bahru from the 30th June and the team returned to Delhi on 4th July, 2017.
