Adolescent Peer Educators Life Skills Leadership Course Workshop

As the world progresses, the future leaders of the world, namely, the adolescents, suffer various health problems which inhibit their progress. Many people are ignorant on the subject. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the peer educators to spread the message among the common people.

Expressions India organised a 5 series workshop of MindSmart - The Adolescent Peer Educators Life Skills Leadership Course on 9 October 2018 in the auditorium of the National Science Centre at Pragati Maidan. The course dealt with health issues faced by the adolescents. The peer educators of The Indian School also participated in this workshop.

Today, the world has made progress in the field of medical science, but in many areas of rural India, falling sick is still considered to be the an evil eye! Many people talk about depression without comprehending the gravity of the same. And, many innocent people become victims of this deadly psychological disease.

The peer educators discussed this issue and presented some some solutions. While the children were discussing the issue, they were simultaneously taught some basic techniques of providing first aid treatment and CPR - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation in the event of an emergency. As a way of sensitising children, they were shown the process of CPR and were allowed to conduct a practice session. The resuscitation can help in saving someone's life if in case a person turns pulseless, they were informed.

At the end of the workshop, the convocation ceremony involved the distribution of certificates as a proof, that they had learnt the basics of life skills and were ready to become peer educators. They were trained to help their fellow mates learn life skills.

It was a memorable experience for the all of us.
