Adventure Camp for Middle School at School eco park
On 21 March 2025, School hosted the annual Adventure Camp for Middle School students at the School Eco Park. This year’s camp brought together 109 students from classes 6,7 and 8, 15 teachers, and support staff. With a carefully curated blend of physical adventure, teamwork and sustainability, the camp created a unique opportunity for students to build resilience and confidence.
The camp’s itinerary featured an exciting mix of both new and traditional adventure activities. This year, students had the opportunity to challenge themselves with adventure activities, including artificial river crossing, balancing beam, ladder climbing, Dragon Move and Hippy Ball. These were integrated alongside popular activities such as Australian Trolley, Burma Bridge, commando net, tyre climb, parallel rope, trampoline, tug of war, climbing wall and vertical rope.
Each activity was designed to challenge the students on both, at the physical and the mental level, encouraging them to step beyond their comfort zones. Among these, the Australian Trolley stood out as a favourite. In this thrilling challenge, students had to navigate through a series of obstacles, including the commando net and the Burma Bridge, working together to overcome the course. This not only tested their physical endurance but also emphasised essential skills like communication, teamwork and trust.
By offering students the freedom to select their preferred activities, the camp ensured that every participant could engage at their own pace. This empowered students to take ownership of their experience, fostering a sense of independence and confidence. Whether participating in the high-energy tug of war or the adrenaline-pumping climbing wall, each student was encouraged to face their fears, learn from setbacks and celebrate their successes.
In addition to the adventure sports, the camp provided students with a hands'-on educational experience centred around sustainable agriculture. The Eco Park, with its organic, pesticide-free farming practices, offered students a unique opportunity to engage with nature in a meaningful way. Students participated in an interactive farm tour, picking fresh vegetables, and learning first-hand about the significance of sustainable farming practices. This segment of the camp was designed to teach students about environmental responsibility and the importance of making mindful choices about food production. The experience also underscored the value of healthy living and the impact of our daily choices on the planet.
After an action-packed morning of adventure activities, the students were treated to a scrumptious lunch in the serene surroundings of the Eco Park. Surrounded by the lush greenery of the park, students enjoyed the delicious meal, which was thoughtfully prepared to provide them with energy and nourishment for the afternoon’s activities.
The Adventure Camp 2025 was an overwhelming success, leaving participants with a host of positive memories and invaluable life lessons. By combining physically demanding activities with valuable insights into environmental sustainability, the camp provided students with the opportunity to develop important life skills. The experience also served as a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of living in harmony with the environment.
As the day came to a close, students returned home not just with stories of their adventures, but with renewed confidence and a greater understanding of their role in a sustainable future. The camp provided a holistic learning experience that was both enjoyable and enriching, making it a much awaited event on the School calendar.
