The objective of an adventure camp is to offer an opportunity for the children to grow, develop and practice the principles of togetherness and self reliance. The environment in the camp helps promote teamwork, leadership and unity. On 24th May2014, the students of class 5 and 6 set out on a 4 nights/5 days adventure camp to Peach Valley (Rajgarh) near Shimla. The students left the school campus at 9:45 p.m. in 2 AC coach buses for their destination. They were given a warm welcome by the organizers of the camp at Peach Valley on their arrival the next morning. After enjoying their favourite cuisines in breakfast the children were allotted their rooms to freshen up and relax after a long overnight journey and to prepare themselves for variety of activities planned post lunch. Children were divided in to 2 groups, one group went for River Crossing whereas the other for Flying Fox activity. While the children were excited about participating in the activities, the weather altered the plan. The activities were disrupted by a hail storm and the teachers and children had to rush to their cottages to enjoy hot pakoras with steaming cups of coffee/tea, followed by bon fire and dance before dinner. Next morning the children got up early at 6 a.m to conclude the activities left incomplete the evening before and to do more activities such as the Burma bridge, net climbing, trekking and rappelling. Children reached the resort in the evening for their evening snack and to the surprise of all the teachers they still had the energy to play musical chairs, and to dance beside the fire to the latest Bollywood songs. On the last day we all checked out of the resort to proceed to Shimla for the visit to a Church and the Lakkar Bazaar and then back to Delhi. The memories of the trip will be cherished for a life time by the students and teachers for the adventure, life skills ,fun, bonding and learning.
