They described how the form has existed as an artistic tradition for thousands of years.   From the cave paintings of Lascaux to the great masterpieces of the Renaissance period ( Vinci, Michaelangelo etc), Impressionism, (Monet etc), Expressionism, Surrealism, Cubism ( Picasso) and then Modern and Contemporary. Photographs and their own reproductions of many masterpieces representative of the distinctive periods held the audience in awe of the a truly remarkable journey of art. Dr. Nayana Goradia, our vice chairperson was special guest at the assembly. She interacted with the children on ancient and modern Indian art and was particularly delighted to see the children so animated on the subject. She reminded the children how only a couple of years ago, the theme at School for the year had been the Great European Masters and although they would have been very young, they would definitely have participated to giving and taking from the theme. Infact their files would have their work preserved, so 'go and look at them again' she said, 'you will now see much more in the same pictures that you painted then!'
