All the topics were equally popular choices for the participants. The competition required students to speak for 5 minutes while using suitable visual- aids to support their views. As the speakers presented their views, they were countered by robust interjections which forced them to put on their thinking caps! Our school chose the topic Business in the Age of Technology: Digital Stores versus Brick & Mortar Stores and was represented by Lizza Sadh, Anish Bhat and Mahima Batheja.

Ehsaas at St. Columbas School

On the 9th of November 2013, we the students of The Indian School went to St. Columbas School for a Short Film competition called Ehsaas. The participants had to make a short film or documentary on a prevalent social issue. Our school had chosen the topic of gender- based violence and our aim was to show that gender- based violence is a global tragedy and not something that is limited to the geographical boundaries of India. Efforts had been put in by the students of class 11 namely Hema Chakraborty, Surbhi Bhatt, Deepak Kumaar, Mehek Manwani and Ahan Ghosh. Our documentary was filled video effective videos and news-clippings of shocking incidents of gender- based violence. It was also armed with statistics to show that when it came to the number of crimes against women there were many other countries that were far ahead of India. We witnessed brilliant works on poverty, bullying and many other social issues. They were very poignant and left a mark on our minds. Our film also received an amazing response. Everyone applauded us for our efforts and they appeared very moved.
