Annual Columban Fest 2017

The Annual Columbian Fest was held on 17th and 18th November, 2017. This two day event offered a wide range of activities to choose from, and every student got an opportunity to showcase one or other talent in the specified categories.

The inter school Columbian fest commenced with an inauguration ceremony on 17th November. The events were as follows - Cadence, Ehsaas, Glitch, Cosmos, Coding, Trishna, Footloose, Conflux, Economists Meet, Basket Ball & Surprise Event.

30 schools participated in the competition and were adjudged by experts from different fields. Individual prizes were awarded for each event.

The following students from our School participated in the fest:

Basketball It was a 3 on 3 match. The team who won the toss could choose to benefit from the ball -possession either at the beginning of the game or at potential overtime. The following students participated in this event-

Cadence There were two categories - solo and band. Time allotted to each school was 15 minutes (including setup + solo + band). Performances of any genre except Gospel and Opera were allowed for the solo performance. Performances of any genre were allowed for the Band performance. No explicit lyrics were allowed. Pre recorded music and sequencing were not allowed. Following students participated in this event:

Surprise Each school was to send 2 participants with a good knowledge of current affairs, history and computer programming to participate in this competition. Following students participated in this event-

Conflux Conflux was the annual commerce and economics conclave event which offered a platform to showcase ones entrepreneurial skills. A PDF document on a business proposition was to be submitted by each team as a pre-requisite to participate in this event. The use of the internet during the competition was not allowed. Each team was given 6 minutes to present its idea. Teams had to use MS Word and / or PPTs to enhance their presentation. Each team had to handle one hypothetical crisis situation named by either the judges or fellow participants. The crisis situation to be dealt with was named on the spot based on the business proposal submitted. The following students participated in this event-

Cosmos Each team comprised of two members. The topic given was astronomy. There were two rounds in this competition. The preliminary round was the written round followed by the final round which comprised of 25 questions to be answered by the qualifying teams. Six teams who scored the most points qualified for the final round. The final round was an audio-visual one. The following students participated in this event-

Ehsaas - Film Making A team comprising of 4-5 members were allowed to participate. The software provided to was Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player. The title of the movie made by our students was Depression

Impromptu The topic of the debate given to the teams was Demonetisation and GST. A deeper understanding and knowledge of the subject matter was required for the participants for a powerful debate. The debate took place in 6 different sessions.

Trishna: Just Art 10 minutes were given to each team and the topics were Hum Kya, Gender Equality and Rok Tok. The following students participated in this event:

Footloose Fiesta The theme given was Back from Dead and the only dance style allowed was Free Style or Fusion. 3.5 minutes were allotted to each team. The following students from our School participated in this event -

Glitch Each school had to send 4 participants. The four participants were split into teams of 2 each. Team members were required to play co-op games either together or take turns for a 1vs1 game. Games were to be played on a PS4 and participants were allowed to use their own gear (headsets, con-trollers, etc). The following students participated in this event:

Coding It was a team contest where we took the third prize. Each team comprised of two members. Teams were ranked according to the number of problems solved by them. In the case of a tie, the time taken by a team was taken into consideration. The contest comprised of multiple rounds.

After every round, teams got eliminated by their points. All solutions were to be typed from start and no modification was allowed once the code was submitted. The following students participated in this event:
