Annual Exhibition 2021- Opening Ceremony

We at The Indian School believe that the insurmountable challenges that mankind has faced in the past year have brought forth new opportunities for us to reinvent and reorient. These thoughts and words found echo in our high spirits as we hosted our virtual Annual Exhibition on 14 August 2021. This is a time for new innovations and we rose to the occasion once again, by reinventing ourselves.

The opening ceremony of the Annual Exhibition was graced by three eminent personalities. We were privileged to have Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj as our chief guest on the occasion.

Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj is Controller of Examinations CBSE, MHRD, Govt of India. He has been associated with the CBSE in several capacities and he is also a Member of a committee constituted by the Honble Supreme Court of India, to suggest ways and means to ensure fair conduct of examinations.

We had Dr Monit Kapoor and Mr Harsha Kikkeri as our special guests.

Dr Monit Kapoor is Mentor of Change, Atal Innovation Mission and heads the Department of Cybernetics at UPES.

Mr Harsha Kikkeri is CEO, Holosuit Pvt. Ltd. He is the brain behind Holosuit- an AI enabled full body analytics' platform.

The event also saw the presence of Vice Chairperson Dr Ms Nayana Goradia, Vice-Chairperson of the Managing Committee Ms. Brinda Goradia Shroff, Member of the Governing Board Ms Madhavi Divan, Manager of our School and former Principal, Ms Rashi Narula, Vice- President of the PTA Ms Tina Kapoor and other members of the PTA.

The opening ceremony began with the customary rendition of the Saraswati Vandana soulfully sung by Samarth Sovani of class IV.

After the invocation, shloks in Sanskrit highlighting education as the most powerful weapon for the development and progress of a nation, were recited by Upaasana Khatua of class VII.

Principal Ms Tania Joshi then addressed the gathering. She lauded the efforts of the teachers and students for taking up the challenge of facing these unprecedented times with aplomb. To put it in her words, We cant put a full stop, we can put a comma, but we chose to put an exclamation mark! she remarked. She mentioned how we went against all odds to turn adversities into opportunities. Ms Joshi stated that apprehensions and self- doubts are a thing of the past now, as we move, continually adapting and evolving ourselves. She highlighted the importance of an insatiable thirst for knowledge among the children and said that the spirit of innovation, inquisitiveness and enthusiasm must never die.

In his address, our chief guest Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj spoke about the importance of a scientific temperament and urged the students to develop scientific ideas through learning how to investigate. He stated how students could build their knowledge and understanding of the world around them through the process of enquiry. Dr Bhardwaj mentioned the significance of research and said he was hopeful that Indian students would take the lead in the fields of research and development and offer great service to humanity. He congratulated the Principal, the management of the School and the teachers for ensuring the best of education for the students especially in the current challenging circumstances.

Dr Monit Kapoor thanked the School for inviting him to be a part of the event. He appreciated the innovative idea of including all the subjects, especially art and languages, in the exhibition saying, What is life without art. He exhorted the students to keep their curiosity alive and said he was sure that the exhibition was a great holistic experience for them. Mr Kapoor lauded the School for its efforts.

Mr Harsha Kikkeri gave a glimpse into the fascinating world of robotics through a presentation. He shared how he forayed into the world of science as a result of his curiosity to know more about things. Mr Kikkeri underlined the power of technology and said that technology is the application of science. He encouraged the students to think out of the box and strive to become innovators.

The talent and accomplishments of the Indianites along with the diversity of our exhibition were showcased through a short video. The video introduced the Annual Exhibition 2021 as A Showcase of Science, Creativity and Technology, all Celebrating Mother Nature.

Science Musings by An Indianite, our Annual School Magazine was released by Dr Sanyam Bharwaj, who gave his nod for its virtual release along with our principal Ms Tania Joshi.

The magazine that is based on this years theme- Reinventing and Harmonising with Nature: Discover, Aspire and Evolve showcases the talent of our students through their thought provoking compositions and beautiful artwork. It delves deep into the science of everything around us and is an effort to inspire young minds to think differently. The Science Magazine has been put together by Akshat, Ekveer Sahoo, Hardik Narang, and Sharanya Mushran from the Designing Team and Manan Kakkar and Ashvin Awasthi of the Editorial Team under the guidance of their teachers.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the emcees who thanked chief guest Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj and special guests Dr Monit Kapoor and Mr Harsha Kikkeri for gracing the occasion. They thanked the audience for being in strong attendance, and expressed gratitude towards the parents for their continuous support and enthusiastic behind the scenes participation in the event.

The Annual Exhibition was declared open by our special guest Mr Harsha Kikkeri and Member of the Governing Board Ms Madhavi Dewan.

The ceremony came to an end with the School song sung by the School choir.

There were several virtual halls created through links generated on Google Meet according to class wise levels and disciplines, for guests to visit the exhibition.

The number of participants in the opening ceremony ensured an equally robust number of visitors in the exhibition, where students curated mesmerizing exhibits, along with projects in different subjects done as summer holiday homework.
