Annual inter school Painting competition at the Hungarian Cultural Centre

The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre organised its annual On-the-spot childrens painting competition at its Balassi centre lawns on 21st February, 2017. Our students of age group 10 14 years participated in the competition. Some of the other schools that participated were DPS-Mathura Road, Springdale- Dhaula Kuan, Apeejay School-Sheikh Sarai, Amity International School-Saket and Blue Bells' School. The Balassi Art Competition is an event that the students look forward to every year. It is an interesting and lively art competition which has gained immense popularity over the last few years. The themes for this years competition were Hungarian Folktales (for age group 5- 12 years) and Alexander Csoma De Koros (for age group of 13 16 years).

The senior group theme, Alexender Csoma De Koros, was chosen to commemorate the 175th death anniversary of Alexander Csoma who was a celebrated researcher of the ancient homeland of the Hungarians, an orientalist, linguist and the founder of Tibetology. The students first viewed an exhibition and then watched a film on him.

Thereon, the group started their task of sketching and painting. For the junior group, Dr. Maria N narrated three Hungarian folktales in Hindi and asked the students to creatively express their perspectives of it with their paintbrushes.

The students undertook to complete the brief with beautiful artworks relating to the interesting characters and incidents of the tales they heard.

The results are awaited as the paintings will be judged according to the age groups, by the panel of the Shankar International Childrens Painting Competition. Awards and certificates will be handed out to the winners at the end of April. The students who participated were - Mannat Suri(V-C) ,Harshita Thakur(VI-A),Eran Mutum(VI-C),Disha Deb(VII-E),Anika Malhotra(VIII-B),Khushi Kedia(VIII-C),Shreya Palit(VIIIE) and Rishika Makwana(VIII-D).
