Author Focus- ( Sudha Murthy) in the Library

It was a moment of joy when our book lovers came to know that author, Sudha Murthys birthday would be celebrated in the library on 19 August, 2019. Joy on their faces and the responses proved it all. The children of Class V onwards brought book covers, book marks, write-ups, collages to be a part of the celebrations. Dr Sudha Murthy was born on 19 August, 1950 in North Karnataka. An M.tech in Computer Science and chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Dr Murthy has lots of books to her credit. These include Mahashweta, Gently falls the Bakula, Wise and Otherwise, The Magic Drum and so on. The list is endless. Recently, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Crossword Book Awards.

Various activities took place throughout the day. Class V enacted a few stories. The stories were based on the authors new book The Bird with the Golden Wings. The children enjoyed themselves thoroughly as they brought the characters alive. Classes VI and VII had an ice breaking session called Passing the book where a book of the author was passed around and the children read aloud excerpts by turn. The best part about the session was that even those children who arent fond of reading during the library periods, got a chance to read aloud a paragraph. A majority of the children wanted to stay back in the library to continue the game!

Class IX indulged in buddy reading where they read stories in groups. Class X had a book reading session in which they read aloud from Stories from Here and There.
