Basketball & Football Match

The Physical Education Department organised several friendly basketball and football matches between classes 10 and 11 and between 8 and 9 to motivate a greater participation in games and sports. The field was teeming with students on 21 January, anxious to witness the proceedings as the teams were robust and were keenly balanced. The first was a football match played eight a side on both sides. The match started at 8:20 am after a warm-up and class 10 held out well thrice against possible goals by the opponents, before Abhaypreet Singh of the latter team scored their first goal in the 10th minute. The first half ended with a 1-0 lead to class 11 which then got extended to 3-1 at the end as Abhaypreet scored the third and final goal. Class 10 could only manage 1 goal by Siddhanto Sen when the score was 2-0 in favour of class 11. The final score was 1-3 (Abhaypreet-2, Sharan Gera-1 and Siddhanto Sen-1. Thereafter a basketball match was played in the second half of the day and the seniors continued to dominate beating class 10 by 19-12 points. In the second half another football match was played between classes 8 and 9 where class 9 prevailed over their juniors, beating them by a margin of 1 goal. The final score read 3-2 in the favour of class 9.
