Birla MUN 2017.

Our 7 students participated in the Birla MUN from 4th 6th August 2017. The participants were Aryan Singh (IX-D), Vidhi Wadhwa (IX-C), Chaitanya Arora (X-B), Shrey Gogia (X-C), Ananya Rao (XI-D), Nipunh Kothari (XI-D) and Jatin Gupta (XI-A).

Details of the Event:

Model United Nations (MUN) is a platform to acquaint young future citizens of the global concerns as deliberated at the UN.

Birla MUN, conducted at Birla Vidyaniketan School, Pushp Vihar offered a pleasant and informative experience for its participants. The delegates discussed their views regarding the solutions of various problems existing in different parts of the world.

The conference comprised six committees: 1. The United Nations Security Council-Discussed the situation in the Middle-East including Palestine. 2. The United Nations Human Rights' Council- Discussed progressive solutions to prevent all instances of institutionalised racism and xenophobia. 3. World Trade Organisation- Reviewed the intellectual property rights (IPR) regime. 4. Gujrat Legislative Assembly (Freeze Date 22nd Dec, 2002) - Discussed the post-riot situation in Gujarat. 5. Central Intelligence Agency (Freeze Date 11th March, 1985) - Discussed intelligence and operations during the regime of Mikhail Gorbachev 6. Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti- Discussing the internal security and internal affairs of Russia

It was a wonderful experience for our students for they not only participated but also won laurels in certain categories. Jatin Gupta and Chaitanya Arora received special mention in the United Nations Human Rights' Council (UNHRC). Aryan Singh received high commendation in Gujarat Legislative Assembly (GLA).
