British Council Workshop for higher studies in the U.K.

'I wonder what you will do when you grow up..?'

What will you do after class 12?'

Like any other senior school student, I too am confronted with questions like these from my parents, friends, teachers, relatives and more so, from myself! Studying in one of the world's best universities is my dream. And like all other young girls and boys in senior school, going abroad for higher education is one of the most significant decisions I need to make.

To throw light on studying at some of the top ranking universities in the UK, a workshop on ' Further Studies in the U.K.' was held by Ms. Ruchika Mazumdar of the British Council in the AV Room on Friday, 30th October, 2015.

According to QS world rankings, 3 of the top 7 universities in the world are from the UK, definitely making it a preferred and destination for higher studies. Around 4,50,000 students fly in from different parts of the world every academic year. We received guidance on the procedure and strategies to be followed for the preparation for the IELTS and TOEFL.

The workshop gave us useful insights into the application process at these UK universities. All undergraduate applications have to be sent through the UCAS website. We were also informed about the costs and duration of the courses. An interesting element was the 'offer for work visa' being made by companies in the UK during the placement season.

The workshop concluded with a round of queries relating to courses in management, economics, engineering and medicine which were duly answered by the counsellor.
