Campus cause

A class assembly was conducted by the students of class VII-A in the auditorium on 29 August, 2013. The assembly focussed on the clean surroundings, starting with our own School, through the medium of a short play.

The play articulated the necessity of every 'stakeholder' as it were, taking ownership of the cause of cleanliness and owing his/ her bit.

For this it was agreed, that each class, from class IV upwards, will be deputed by rotation on a weekly basis. 15 minutes shall be granted to the class on duty, after the break to tidy up the campus. The teachers will allocate duties to students in groups.

The assembly explained how garbage is a great environmental hazard. Trash comes from various sources used paper, packaging, plastic bags, ice cream, wrappers, bottle-caps, pencil- stubs etc. Garbage leaves the premises unkempt and can even breed ailments. We were told that we should not burn garbage because it contains material that can be recycled.

Waste management is very necessary to prevent the pollution of the environment. All of us have a responsibility to keeping the surroundings clean and healthy. We are told how we should segregate domestic waste into degradable and non degradable parts. As the population increases, more people move to cities and the increased urbanization generates more waste.

Infact the disposal of waste is becoming a global problem. Often waste is disposed off without proper planning. Planning and educating people for the scientific disposal of waste is necessary to prevent pollution of the environment and soil.

The audience listened intently and it is hoped that we can look forward to a spontaneous determination amongst our listeners to make a mission of what they learnt.
