CBSE teacher workshop at our School

The Indian School held a CBSE Capacity Building Programme titled ‘Educating Parents about Education’ on 28 June 2024. The objective of the session was to equip the teachers with insights and strategies to support the learning and overall development of students through effective parental engagement.

The workshop featured resource persons, our Principal Ms Tania Joshi and Ms Monika Sharma, Principal, Shalom Presidency School, both noted for their extensive experience. The workshop was attended by sixty teachers of our School.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome to the speakers of the day. It was structured around four comprehensive modules. The first module addressed the paradigm shift in education, with Ms Joshi emphasising the critical role of mental health and well being in education. She provided an insightful overview of the key concepts of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023.

The second module talked about the assessment reforms and the significance of student assessment. The essential reasons of student assessment in the teaching and learning process were highlighted along with the shift from content-based assessment to competency-based assessment. Ms Sharma discussed the essential aspects of SAFAL (Structured Assessment of Analysing Learning) and PARAKH. These initiatives, integral to the NEP 2020, aim to standardise assessment practices and foster collaboration among educational bodies.

While taking the teachers through the third module ‘Know your Child’, Ms Joshi  stressed on cultivating a rapport with the students, chiefly an understanding and recognising of individual talents. The module also explored the distinction between intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ).

The fourth and final module presented by Ms Sharma delved into various career pathways and objectives of career counselling, providing educators with insights into guiding students effectively towards their future endeavours.

Overall, it was a very comprehensive workshop. The teachers were engaged in various group activities and discussions empowering them to assist parents in the educational journey of their children. The workshop emphasised the importance of partnership between teachers and parents in shaping a brighter future for the next generation.
