Christmas fiesta by Primary.

Some of us start feeling festive with the onset of December. From embellishing conifer trees to penning down sweet wishes, people began their Christmas preparations weeks ago.

The aroma of rich plum cake, the sweet sound of carols, the decorated manger and the Christmas tree, twinkling lights and Santa Claus are just some of the things that ring in the Christmas spirit.

The primary wing of our School celebrated Christmas on 16th December, 2017. Students participated in an inter house Christmas tree decoration competition and the decoration of a Santa face using waste material.

The children reused old chart paper to make their Christmas trees, used empty match boxes, shoe boxes, egg crates, coca cola bottles, paper plates, shuttle cocks, socks etc to create accessories like bells, Santa, sledge, a snowman, gifts, stars and bows. The children of class III depicted the story of the birth of Jesus and the nativity scene in a skit. Some classic Jim Reeves melodies filled the air with cheer. Away in the Manger, Oh come all ye faithful, Rudolph the red nose reindeer, Dashing through the snow were some of the all time favourites sung by the children. The joy of children was immeasurable when Santa dashed into the skating rink with his goody bag handing out his goodies!

Some game stalls were also put up by the students of class V where the children tried their luck. Teachers and students alike enjoyed aiming at the pyramid of glasses and toppling it with a ball and trying to feed the hungry clown! The hoopla was a big attraction for the children as they won many gifts. The letters written by the children to Santa had the audience rolling over with laughter when they were read and dramatised by the children of class V.

Students voluntarily carried balloons, cakes and candies from home. In fact the Christmas party was quite independently organised by the children and from introducing the event and relating the different aspects of it, to music, acting, singing, hosting games and even becoming Santa, it was all their effort.

Ms. Simmi Kumar and Shankar Sir of the art department and Ms. Othilia Fernandes and Mr. Antony De costa were the judges to select the best decorated tree.

The winners was Varun House for its innovation, presentation and the best use of waste, followed by Surya, Chandra and Indra Houses respectively. The childrens joy knew no bounds when Principal Ms. Joshi applauded their efforts and also joined in to play games at their stalls.

Our students enjoyed every bit of this festivity, taking away from it the precious values of love and sharing.
