Citizenship workshop on Sustainable practices for class 8

“The environment is in your hands; handle with care.”

The YES Project workshop, organised by Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group in collaboration with Wellspur Foundation, was successfully conducted on 8th May 2025 in the School auditorium. The workshop aimed to empower 161 students of class 8 with scientific knowledge and foster a passion for environmental action.

Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group is a gendered Circular Society Do-Tank with over 25 years of expertise in waste management. They collaborate with stakeholders like UNEP, NDMC, MCD, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change to advocate flsystemic changes in waste management, air pollution, and climate change.
The resource persons led an engaging interactive session, discussing critical environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices.

The workshop commenced with an interactive session introducing students to the pressing environmental challenges of our times. Through multimedia presentations and real-life examples, the students were made aware of the impact of their daily choices on the environment.

Students participated in group activities   and also in a poster making activity where they highlighted local environmental issues. They conducted micro-research within School and the community, identifying sources of textile waste, air pollution, and e-waste. This hands'-on approach helped them understand the root causes and implications of the issues at hand.

The YES project aims to create a ripple effect, leading to long-term, sustainable environmental change. By investing in the youth, the project aims to ensure a sustainable and healthier future for all. The workshop promoted environmental awareness and encouraged students to tackle environmental challenges.

Guided by the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) framework, students formulated actionable plans to mitigate identified environmental problems. Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group and Wellspur Foundation's collaborative effort has taken a significant step in promoting environmental awareness and empowering youth to create a sustainable future.
