Class 10 interacts with a senior banker on Financial Literacy and Banking
On 10th July 2024, the students of class X engaged in an interactive session with Ms Deepa Bhardwaj, Head of Kotak Bank, New Delhi. The topic of the address was 'Banking and Financial Literacy'. The session commenced with an interesting video showcasing the importance of financial literacy and banking.
Ms Bharadwaj provided an insight on the procedure of opening a bank account under parental guidance. She emphasised the need for budgeting and ways and means to multiply one's finances.
Being a banker, she highlighted the understanding of credit scores and methods to improve these. She mentioned why banks promote the use of credit cards over debit cards.
The students participated in a discussion on real estate and the stock market. During the session, the students posed myriad questions, including queries about initiating an SIP account and the role of financial literacy in bolstering the country's economy. Ms Deepa Bhardwaj comprehensively covered financial strategies and delved into the profound impact of economic factors, encompassing inflation, interest rates, and economic policies. She highlighted the increasing popularity of digital banking, particularly mobile banking, internet banking, and UPI. She spoke of the widespread usage of UPI by Indians.
Overall, it was an engaging session in which students gained valuable insights on finance and banking.
