Class 1B engages with peers in an Indonesian school
On 14 August 2023, the students of class I B accompanied by their teacher, Ms Rhytham Massey, engaged in a Skype classroom with their counterparts and their teacher, Ms Rafika Azmi at the Majdah Alfayyadh Primary School in Labuhan Batu Utara, (North Sumatra Province), Indonesia.
On the occasion of India's Independence Day, the young Indianites talked about their country and her national symbols. Piraimathi described the tricolour or the Tiranga. Aayra and Ayaan spoke about our national animal, the tiger. Rajvansh talked about our national fruit, the mango, known as the king of fruit in India. Pranshi spoke about the symbol of grace, joy, beauty and love i.e., the national bird of India, the peacock. The students on the Indonesian side were amazed to know about the rich culture and diversity of our country as Anvi told them about the numerous languages spoken here.

In turn, the Indonesian students told us that they shall be celebrating their Independence Day on 17 August 2023. Ceremonies and festivities will be held throughout the country to celebrate this national day, including the flag hoisting ceremony conducted nationwide. The session concluded on a musical note as our little singers sang the patriotic song, Sare Jahan se Achha.
The discussion fostered excitement and curiosity in the students on both sides, as they looked forward to another such opportunity to connect with transnational cultures and enhance their understanding of peoples from different parts of the globe.
