Class 2 visits the Mughal Gardens

The magic of a field trip is that it offers hands'-on experiential learning and in this spirit, an educational excursion to the Mughal Gardens was organised on 10th March, 2017 for the children of class II.

Departing on time from School, the children beamed with excitement as they entered the heritage site of Rashtrapati Bhawan. What a breathtaking backdrop to a vast botanical bounty!

The students walked through the herbal garden which boasts of more than 500 varieties. The students were familiarised about the diverse medicinal and aromatic plants such as the Ashwgandha, Gurmar, Marigold, Isabgol etc. Subsequently, we stepped into the main garden laid out with precision and great creativity. The different species of foliage and flora mingled magically. A thick carpeting of lush grass spread out to connect the imaginatively placed beds. The roses took our breaths away as did the China Orange and the numerous vibrant blooming climbers.

The children watched in great delight the 'dancing fountain' as it sprang and dipped to spring again! The bright sunshine didn't deter the enthusiasm as the children gazed up in awe at the vast banyan trees and bonsais.

The aim of the excursion was to sensitise the children towards nature as a group. This way they enjoyed a shared experience in a mood of camaraderie and bonding.
