Class 3 visits Gandhi Smriti
The students of class III had a unique learning experience at Gandhi Smriti on Tuesday, 9 October 2018. Gandhi Smriti, situated at old Birla House on Tees January Marg is a place of great historical value as it is the location where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30 January 1948.
The excited 148 students along with their respective class teachers boarded the buses at 9:30 a.m. from School. The children were earlier given a recap on the life and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi.
The landmark museum offered an opportunity to witness the display of a collection of original relics, all belonging to the father of the nation. Each picture had an interesting story. Students were guided through the richly mounted corridors of the museum. Mesmerizing facets of the freedom struggle unfolded as each frame told its own story. Time stood suspended as the fascinated children experienced enriching and empowering moments as they saw riveting scenes from Indias poignant history flash past, guided along by their teachers.

The students were also shown a documentary on the life of Bapu. They saw several exhibits including musical bamboo poles and multi-hued kaleidoscopes carrying messages written by Gandhiji.
Visiting Gandhi Smriti was a touching experience for all as important aspects of Indias freedom struggle came alive. It was a virtual walk through an invaluable part of modern Indian history for the young children.
