Class 4 interacts with peers in Taiwan

On 19 December 2023, the students of class IV C, accompanied by their English teacher, Ms Rhytham Massey, engaged in a Skype session with Ms Angel Huang and her students at the Chong-He Elementary School in Tainan, Taiwan.

The eagerness was evident in the eyes of the young learners. Ms Huang and her students were equally excited on the other side of the screen! The students of The Indian School introduced themselves and started a conversation about how Christmas is celebrated in India.

Siddhi warmly welcomed our guests for the day, and Reet, Gunnika and Kushaan spoke about how we celebrate Christmas by decorating a tree and dressing our homes with holly and mistletoe. They also spoke about the meaning of Christmas which is to care about others and to find ways of bringing happiness to others.

The students in the Taiwanese school shared information on the types of festivals celebrated in Taiwan. They spoke about the Moon festival, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Mother’s Day etc. to which our students could well relate, as we celebrate some of these festivals too.

The session ended on a musical note as Binwant, Mishika, Myra, Kiara, Neil and Kushagra sang ‘Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer’ carol.

The interaction on the Skype session greatly helped the children on both sides build new confidence and learn more about another culture.
