Class 4E Skype Classroom with a Vietnamese Teacher

The future of the world is in my classroom today.- Ivan Welton Fitzwater

The students of class IV-E of The Indian School got a wonderful opportunity to interact with peers in Vietnam in a Skype classroom organised by class teacher, Ms Martina Roy and her Vietnamese counterpart Ms Pham Khanh Huyen, a private school teacher.

The students were excited about their very first Skype interaction and appreciated the unique opportunity to learn about Vietnam- its people, leaders, culture, cuisines, festivals and places. Abeer Kumar in traditional Vietnamese attire of a bamboo hat and a Ha-noi T-shirt commenced the Skype discussion with the greeting - Xin chao, bang koa kwueh khum? i.e Good morning, how are you?

The Indianites held placards of Ho Chi Minh, revolutionary leader who led the Vietnamese nationalist movement along with pictures of the President of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong and spoke about what they had read and learnt about these leaders.

Ms Pham and her students, on the other hand, held placards of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which evoked loud cheers and claps from both sides.

The excitement was palpable on both sides as students showcased their unique talents and presented facets about their two countries. The students held up specially designed postcards with images of people and important places in Vietnam along with messages for their new friends. The art works were well received with cheers from the other end. students also put in great efforts to design handmade Vietnamese flags. Prisha Malhotra held a beautiful postcard with a drawing of Vietnam and a message that read We invite you to India. We hope to see you soon.

The session ended with music accompanied by the spectacle of fluttering national flags of the two countries by the respective sides. The warm vibes opened fresh horizons in the impressionable minds of our young primary students.
