Class 6 visits the School Eco AdventurePark

On 8 February 2024, a visit to the School eco park was organised for the students of class VI. Forty-five students accompanied by two teachers went on the excursion. At the park, the students were exposed to life sized interactive models on concepts of science. Some of these models showcased the following principles.

  1. Conservation of energy: The models demonstrated that energy can neither be created nor destroyed
  2. DNA structure: Understanding the building blocks of life through a life sized model
  3. Crystal structures: Exploring the fascinating geometric arrangements of atoms in different materials
  4. Optical illusions: Learning about the science behind visual perception and its deceptive nature
  5. Newton's Disc: Witnessing the phenomenon of colour mixing and its connection to light and perception

Scientific principles, behind each model, were explained, sparking curiosity and encouraging questions from students. Also, the students learnt how to use a compass for navigational skills.

The students got an opportunity to move freely in the park, learning about how vegetables are grown. They were particularly thrilles to pick the ready produce them under the guidance of the caretaker. They gained hands-on knowledge about sustainable agricultural practices and their interconnectedness with nature.

Students actively engaged with scientific concepts, developed an appreciation for the environment, and fostered a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them. The positive interaction with nature and the interactive learning environment will likely leave a lasting impression on the students. The group happily returned armed with bags carried from home, and stuffed with fresh produce
