Class 7 visits the Rajaon ki Baoli

On 5 December 2023, 25 students of class VII, accompanied by two teachers, embarked on an educational excursion to Rajon Ki Baoli. This was done as a part of the Jal Itihaas initiative. The Baoli, situated in the Mehrauli Archaeological Park offers a profound understanding of its historical context. Guided by a knowledgeable guide, the students delved into the deep-rooted relationship between the site and water, appreciating the Indo-Islamic architecture of landmarks such as the Jamali Kamali Mosque.

As the group proceeded towards the tomb dedicated to Sheikh Faizula (Jamali), they marvelled at the beautifully crafted ceilings and learned about the Wazu observed by Muslims before prayers in a mosque. The journey also included a visit to the impressive ‘Rajon Ki Baoli’, a 60-foot-deep stepwell filled with water, sparking interest in other stepwells like ‘Agrasen ki Baoli’ and ‘Hazrat Nizamuddin ki Baoli.’

The excursion concluded, fostering a sense of awe and appreciation for India’s rich heritage. The students reflected on the experience and were grateful for the opportunity to explore historical monuments and tombs, gaining insights into the emperors who once ruled India. This immersive trip became a valuable window into the country’s cultural legacy.
