Class 9 attends lecture ' Innovation to Industry' at National Science Centre

On Saturday, 18 January 2025, an Innovation Science Fest was held at the National Science Centre Fifteen students of class 9 had the opportunity of attending the Popular Science Lecture at the festival. The lecture, titled “Innovation to Industries”, was delivered by Mr Sunil Newar, Joint Director, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, in the Conference Hall of the National Science Centre. The students were accompanied by their teacher, Ms P. Yogeshwari.

The festival emphasised key aspects of innovation, design and product development, with a focus on how student-led projects can be transformed into successful industrial ventures through support from MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) programmes.

The event began with an introduction to the various schemes launched by MSME, including:

MSME ZED Scheme (Zero Defect Zero Effect): Encouraging the development of products that are both high-quality and environmentally friendly

MSME Innovative Scheme: Supporting innovative ideas and turning them into viable businesses

LEAN Scheme: Providing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste in production

MSME Champions Scheme: Aiming to facilitate growth and competitiveness for MSMEs

The students were inspired by the idea that their innovative concepts could evolve into successful businesses with the help of MSME schemes. They learned that MSME programmes offer financial assistance, guidance, and cost-effective solutions through institutions like IISc, IITs, and NITs, with the objective of indigenous product design and development

At the conclusion of the event, students were shown real-life examples of projects by school and college students that were successfully turned into market-ready products. These examples highlighted the role of reputed institutions in providing design and development support.

The students found the event immensely helpful, as it broadened their understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship. They left the festival motivated, knowing that government programmes and institutions are available to support their ideas with financial backing and expert advice.
